Ingredients

  • 1 cup toasted chopped hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp hazelnut liqueur
  • 6 oz (1 c.) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line large baking sheet with foil, extending foil over edges.
  2. Sprinkle 1/2 c. of hazelnuts in an 8″ square in the pan. Set aside.
  3. Butter the sides of a heavy 1 qt saucepan.
  4. In saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar & water.
  5. Cook & stir to 280º F or soft-crack stage (about 10 mins)
  6. Remove from heat. Immediately stir in liqueur; pour on top of nuts in pan
  7. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces. Let stand 2 minutes.
  8. When chocolate is soft, spread to cover. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 c. nuts. Cool.
  9. Holding onto foil, lift out of pan. Break into pieces.
